Krassen 5

"I think, that this is a very good project for children and young people, who are interested in music and percussion. I know Mr. Silva and his work with children and I hope that more kids from Vienna get the same possibility."

"Such an exiting Saturday afternoon. We waited nervously for the start of the performance. Everyone was really nervous. Sheik, the kids and even the audience. And there were a lot of guests, almost more than seats. Then the children started: "die krassen Fünf". At the beginning soft and gentle: Iwan on the guitar, with so much stage fright that he looked like he would have liked to crawl inside his instrument or at least to hide behind it. For the second piece, everyone came together to perform a very complex percussion theme. The kids played together the complicated rhythm with so much fun and harmony. After a break for some delicious Brazilian snacks, the concert continued with a solo piece by Oskar on the guitar accompanied by the others. It was clear how much the children enjoyed playing together and how sensitively they listened to each other. Slowly, we started to relax and together with the musicians we stepped deeper into the music. Unfortunately, we were granted only one more piece. We could have listened to Sheik and the "Krassen Fünf" for hours. I think that I write for everyone who came in hoping we will be able to enjoy another performance soon. It was so great to see the kids making music with the necessary seriousness but at the same time with so much fun and love."

"As a music teacher, I really enjoyed this afternoon. I appreciated especially that my collegue first starts with playing, experimenting and feeling the music in order to come to work and understanding. This approach makes it easier for kids to learn. The kids were able to keep up with the different rhythms easily hile their leader played much more complicated rhythms. Each of them had also had his own arrangements and they were accompanied by guitar and drums. It was obvious that the kids like Sheik Silva very much and that he supports and inspires them to teamwork. Bravo!"

"I was really fascinated by the performance of "die krassen Fünf". Above all I was impressed by the way each one had his part to contribute to the complete works. I also liked very much the introduction of the kids own creations. They showed how good they feel and how well they can express themselves by music. To show children this "language" is a wonderful work. The performance was brilliant. I could feel the energy and I could not help dancing. The rhythm took control of my feet. Finally I have to criticize one little point just because I couldn’t get enaugh on this afternoon: I missed an encore!!! Good luck for the future! I’m looking forward to enjoying such a "krassen" concert again."

The concert of the "Krassen 5" was in every respect a joyful event: an afternoon full of rhythm, music, good food and "brincadeira". Typical Brazilian. The "Krassen 5" unter leadership of Sheik Silva proved that you don’t have to be born in Brazil to be able to play Brazilian rhythm. The musical spectrum reached from percussion rhythm to blues. There are no entrance fees for Brazilian children and this makes this afternoon an enrichment for us all. Good luck for the future.."

"I was really impressed how easy it can be to arrange such effective rhythm. The wide variety was impressive... not a show rehearsed to the last detail rehearsed but one full of variations, improvisation, spontaneity and a lot of fun... In fact every word is a word to much - Sheik and "die krassen Fünf" speak for themselves! Thank you for having the pleasure to join your concert!"
